Bet down to 7-5 favoritism that afternoon, she's working fast, including a very sharp five furlongs from the gate March 5.
2nd pick: #2 (Pretty Owl) (3-1) - The second of the Baffert pair, she's been away since tiring while wide at this level and distance Sept. 4 at Del Mar. Working fast locally, this $250,000 purchase completes a strong hand from the trainer.
3rd pick: #7 (Red Shelby) (5-1) - Filly has some speed and is racing on the dirt following five straight starts on the grass. Her recent drills at Del Mar are very fast, she has a recency advantage on the Baffert pair, and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #4 (Copper Fever) (3-1) - One of two making their debuts, home bred by 'Street Cry' has some swift local works on view and is from a top barn (Rick Mandella). A threat if she runs to her a.m. drills, though she's three months into her 4yo season without starting, and obviously has some issues.
