Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (ATYPIQUE) (2-1) - The morning line and probable favorite, grey colt is stretching out in distance off an impressive debut here March 5. Four-year-old son of 'Tapit' rallied to finish second of 11, beaten just over a length racing at this level going 6.5 furlongs down the hill. Hall of Fame trainer Rick Mandella has worked him three times since and he meets a rather average looking field for this level.
2nd pick: #2 (Cimpl Man) (5-2) - Much improved in his last two starts, he finished second at this level going 6.5 furlongs Jan 22, then ran third at this mile distance in his follow up race Feb 26. He has more speed than most and should be involved from start-to-finish.
3rd pick: #5 (Heat) (6-1) - He's finished second in three of seven starts on the Santa Anita turf. Speed/stalker is stretching back out after rallying for the place spot going 6.5 furlongs March 27. Breeder/owner/trainer Barry Abrams brings him back quickly for this attempt.
4th pick: #6 (Tizzing) (5-1) - Lightly-raced colt finished third, 5.5-lengths behind 'Atypique' going 6.5 furlongs March 5. It was his first back off an 11 month layoff and he just missed next out at this mile trip. Four-year-old by 'Tiznow' must be left in the mix.
