This 7yo has won 10 of 36 starts, with nine of those coming on the grass. He ships North from Tampa where he was an easy winner on the grass going a mile April 17. It was his first following a Jamie Ness claim and a subsequent two-month break. He's only raced once before on a synthetic surface, but is in top form, and has a recency edge on several.
2nd pick: #3 (Viva Lad) (3-1) - Unraced since late November, he's a synthetic surface specialist. Veteran has an outstanding local record (11-5-1-4) and ran well here a year ago following a similar long layoff.
3rd pick: #5 (Thunder's Rollin) (8-1) - 6yo was sprinted at Penn National April 29, and that should serve as a very useful 'prep' for this assignment. It was his first start since Oct. 1st, and this speed/stalker has won three of five previous races at Presque Isle. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #4 (Capt Zippounas) (7-2) - Old timer ran evenly in a grass contest at Tampa Bay April 24. It was his first since early October, and this 8yo has one of the best local records (18-8-2-5) of any horse stable here. No speed type is a stretch threat if ready with his best.
