Top pick: #2 (QUETZALLI) - Races first off a "Lupe" Guerrero claim and he brings this filly back off a two-month break and runs her below the purchase price. Daughter of "Roman Ruler" has an excellent drill here on Dec. 31 and she's shown fine early speed in her first pair. Breaks near the rail and in this abbreviated sprint (5 furlongs), that's a plus.
2nd pick: #5 (Successful Prenup) - Nice debut saw her break sharply and stay on until the last furlong where she tired to finish fifth. Drops in half today and it's apprentice Orm off, and leading rider Carmouche on.
3rd pick: #1 (Wild and Windblown) - New York-bred showed nothing when debuting in a turf sprint at Belmont in late June. She was "bumped" early that day and may have been injured. Runs off a 6 1/2 month layoff for a new trainer (Cathal Lynch) and the barn drops her way down and moves her to the dirt.
