It was his first since last October and his first off a positive trainer change to Phil D'Amato. Stalker can take this if not hung real wide into the turn.
2nd pick: #2 (Xerxes) (5-2) - Speedy sort races first off a Vann Belvoir claim (15%). New barn brings him back quickly (13 days) and shortens him up a furlong. Three-year-old by the quick 'Orientate' breaks just off the rail and is a win candidate on the front end.
3rd pick: #5 (Strong Like Bull) (5-1) - He dueled and tired when debuting at Del Mar for twice this price Aug 30. Trainer Pete Miller (20% second out) brings him back in 19 days and halves him in claiming price. With Victor Espinoza not here, Marty Garcia is aboard. Gelding b y 'Benny the Bull' must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #4 (Senor Pegasus) (6-1) - The field's most experienced maiden has been freshened up since June 19. One-run type is working steadily and has been competitive several times in the past facing tougher groups than this.
