A 4yo gelding by 'Orb,' he has a speed/stalking style and is conservatively spotted by trainer Linda Rice. I give him a slight edge in this wide open contest.
2nd pick: #4 (Stormy Justin) (20-1) - Huge longshot has drawn extremely wide post in all three turf races since coming off an eight-month layoff Aug. 1. He tired here while wide Feb. 10, draws much better today, and has a pair of sharp works at the Palm Meadows Center for this attempt.
3rd pick: #6 (Paynter's Boy) (4-1) - He's dropping in class in his third back from just under a 10-month layoff. 4yo has raced both wide and evenly in both return starts at this meet facing tougher and seems set for a big effort today. It's noted that leading rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. is aboard while abandoning 'King Orb.'
4th pick: #8 (Jego's Fire) (15-1) - Another longshot, he was very wide when beaten 3.5 lengths here at this level Feb. 23. It was his first start in two months, a positive effort, and he's in the mix here at a big price.
