Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (WAPPINGER) (4-1) - Filly has been on the sidelines since Sept. 21. She's training off track and New York-bred has a stalking style and has done well sprinting in the past. I give her a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Sky Chaser) (9-2) - Freshened up for the past two months, she's dropping in price, has a pair of sharp local works on view, and Irad Ortiz Jr is aboard in her return.
3rd pick: #4 (Trieste) (5-2) - Brazilian import tired after setting a pressured pace going a mile on the grass facing tougher Feb. 24. It was her first race since Dec. 16 and today trainer Ken McPeek drop.s her to a new low, switches her back to the dirt, and shortens her up in distance. 4yo is dangerous in this spot.
4th pick: #6 (Purple Girl) (7-2) - Speedy 3yo set a pressured pace and held gamely to finish second at this level and distance March 13. It was a career best and she should be involved from gate-to-wire.
