A winner of five straight, his Byer Figures are some of the best over the past five years. Has the rail, is working sharply, and he gets a slight edge of 'Chrome.'
2nd pick: #12 (California Chrome) (6-5) - Not much to add that you probably don't know about this wonderful horse. He's banked $14.5M, has won all over the place, and he was just named the 2016 'Horse of the Year.' This is his final start, and I'm sure he'll give his all as he always does. An obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Semper Fortis) (30-1) - Stretch out sprinter has a fine record and was working very fast at Santa Anita before shipping here. He should get a nice early spot and can grab a share at a big price.
4th pick: #9 (Keen Ice) (12-1) - He defeated 'American Pharoah' in the Travers Stakes (G1) back in 2015, but hasn't won in eight starts since then. However, he's been competitive several times and could get a minor award with his best.
5th pick: #10 (Breaking Lucky) (20-1) - Canadian bred has more early speed than most, and he ran well several times last year facing some tough competition. Another who may get a share at long odds.
