Top pick: #6 (SOILED DOVE) - Daughter of "Thunder Gulch" has been lightly raced this year and last out in late June at Louisiana Downs she tired after pressing in a two-turn grass contest racing for $20K. Trainer George Northrop drops her to a new low, switches her back to the dirt, and 4-year-old had a bullet 5-furlong gate breeze six days ago. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Tu D Bayou) - Debuting filly by "Richter Scale" has some fine works showing, including a bullet 3-furlong gate move a week ago. Trainer (Frank Trosclair) is capable first out (17%) and this 3-year-old meets a pretty weak field once you get past "Dove".
3rd pick: #4 (Special Jewel Rae) - Freshened up since Aug. 18, filly was racing evenly at that time and it wouldn't take much improvement to factor against this crew.
4th pick: #10 (Whistling Brahms) - She's shown nothing in three starts, but they all came facing special weights. Nicely bred filly is in a winning barn (Sam Breaux) and should show whatever she has in this spot.
