Speedy gelding ships from Laurel where he finished a pacesetting third, going seven furlongs Aug. 18. He's dropping in class, has blinkers added, and he breaks from the rail. Three-year-old by 'Malibu Moon' gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #5 (Hyka) (4-1) - Colt moves from turf to dirt in his second back from a seven week break. Home bred is taking a big drop in class and is from a top barn (Larry Jones). Win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Master Chief) (3-1) - Very lightly-raced, he's facing winners for the first time. Colt broke his maiden on the Monmouth grass Aug. 18 and came back with a quick work on the local dirt Aug. 31. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #14 (Roethlisberger) (6-1) - He was entered for the 'main track only' and trainer Jamie Ness gets his wish. One-run type finished an even third at Laurel going seven furlongs Aug. 18. Fits with his best, but he must try and avoid a wide trip for any chance at winning this.
