(# 2) TURKUS QUERCUS - Nicely bred filly started her career in England, and it's nice to see that she ran well in only start there when two. Debut at three came from a poor draw in down-the-hill grass race at Santa Anita. Should be noted that filly was well-bet that day. Freshened and dropped in class by new trainer Hess. She ran a very strong second in mid-May at Hollywood. Working well over this surface, and she's the horse to beat.

(# 5) San Lameer - Three good efforts over Hollywood's Polytrack, and all were in very large fields (a plus). Has an unbelievable four-furlong drill here on the July 25.

(# 6) Mommy Jean - Legged-up against better in first start over Hollywood's turf. Drops into a claimer for Mullins and trainer has good stats in all the relevant categories.

(# 8) Ring Dem Bells - Four-year-old makes her second lifetime start for leading trainer Peter Miller. Showed speed in bow on May 19, and was defeated by the top pick after disputing the early fractions.
