Speed/stalker had a poor start that day from her inside post in a very large field (14). She's training well since and last August, she missed by less than a length here in the rich G1 Del Mar Oaks.
2nd pick: #2 (Nancy From Nairobi) (3-1) - English bred import was beaten 2.5 lengths in the Gamely Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita May 30. That broke a three race winning streak and stretch runner is a win candidate in her Del Mar debut.
3rd pick: #1 (Fresh Feline) (15-1) - Mare has improved of late and is working fast for her first since March 26. Stalker is better at longer trips, but can get a piece of this at a big price with a late run following a ground saving trip.
4th pick: #4 (Prize Exhibit) (12-1) - No-speed type is a veteran stakes performer, but will need a fast and/or contested pace to get anything more than a small slice this afternoon.
