Four-year-old races first of a claim by veteran Gary Stute and he's won with four of his last nine (44%) fresh off the claim over the past 19 months. There's plenty of potential speed signed on and that should set it up for his late run.
2nd pick: #5 (Matriculate) (4-1) - Stalker set a pressured pace before weakening very late to check in third July 3 at Santa Anita. He was only 1.5 lengths behind 'Ain't Misbehavin' and has now been sharp in four straight appearances. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Storm Comin Thru) (6-1) - Price play takes a big drop in class following a poor effort here facing tougher July 15. He had finished a solid third in his previous start and is racing back into shape after a pair of layoffs. It's a plus that Flavien Prat is staying aboard.
4th pick: #3 (Nusret) (8-1) - Stretch out sprinter is racing second back from a two month layoff and first off a Ron Ellis claim. He fits wit these on figures and is dangerous from on or just of the lead. 'Live' longshot.
