He won the G2 Oaklawn Handicap going 9 furlongs April 13, then missed by a 'neck' to today's rival 'Seeking the Soul' in the rich Stephen Foster Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs June 15. Speed/stalker has been training at Saratoga for this attempt and looks set for a big effort.
2nd pick: #5 (Seeking the Soul) (2-1) - As mentioned in the analysis on 'Quip', this veteran defeated him by a 'neck' in a G2 at Churchill Downs June 15. It was his 7th career win and increased his bankroll to a bit over $3.3M. Working both steadily and well above average in Kentucky for this rich G1, he's an obvious win candidate in his West Coast debut.
3rd pick: #3 (Pavel) (5-1) - A locally based veteran, he's only won 3 of 17, but has earned just over $2M. His last victory came at Churchill 8 starts ago when he won the 2018 Stephen Foster (G1) on June 18 of last year. He's capable of getting a share, but will need to make a big move forward for any shot at winning this.
4th pick: #8 (Campaign) (6-1) - A 'long winded' type, he won a weal 12 furlong G3 here July 24, but would need a very fast/and or contested pace today for anything more than a minor award.
