This stalker finished 2nd here at this tag going six furlongs Nov. 11 in his first since Sept. 16. Competitive in four of five starts since dropping into claimers, he draws a fine outside post today, and the additional 1/16th of a mile is in his favor.
2nd pick: #3 (Destiny Awaits) (3-1) - He tired late here going 8.5 furlongs facing $50K claimers on a sloppy surface Nov. 8. It was his second start back following 9.5 months on the sidelines, and he's dropping to a new low while shortening up in distance. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Jimmy Joe) (5-1) - The second of the pair from the Foley barn, he set a pressured pace before tiring to finish 4th, 2.5 lengths behind barn-mate 'Mine My Time' here Nov. 11. It was his first in 70 days and his first at this level. Speed/stalker retains Ricardo Santana, Jr. and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #6 (Wicked Gem) (12-1) - $100K purchase raced evenly following a troubled break when finishing beyond both 'Mine My Time' and 'Jimmy Joe' Nov. 11. He's capable of getting a minor award at a square price, but that may be his ceiling at this point.
