Stalker has been sharp in four straight grass sprints and has been competitive on the dirt in the past. One of her two wins came on a wet track and I give her a slight edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Souper Echo) (7-2) - Lightly-raced Live Oak home-bred has been in good form on the turf and finished second in both starts during 2017 on the dirt. Speed/stalker ships off a sharp work at Fair Hill Sept. 13 and Jose Ortiz stays aboard.
3rd pick: #5 (Daria's Angel) (3-1) - One of two main-track-only runners, she moves up in class after finishing second, going 7 furlongs for a $20K tag Aug. 13 at Saratoga. She's spent her entire career on the dirt and has won two of three here at Belmont in the past. A strong factor today at a short price.
