Bet down to 2-1 favoritism when debuting in a Saratoga print at this level Sept. 2, he reached the front nearing the wire but was nailed by a 'neck' in the last two strides. He's worked twice since and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #5 (Pier Forty) (7-2) - NEW gelding moves back to the grass after tiring while wide going 7 furlongs on the Saratoga dirt Aug. 27. Well backed in both starts, Lasix is added and John Velazquez is aboard for the first time.
3rd pick: #9 (Quiet Out East) (9-2) - He raced both wide and evenly when debuting at this level going 8.5 furlongs Aug. 23. The gelding has worked three times since for trainer Chris Clement (22% second time out).
4th pick: #3 (Wayne's Footsteps) (6-1) - Home bred chased the pace and held to finish second in a Saratoga turf sprint Aug. 10. He tired here to check in a distant third in an 'off the turf' contest Sept. 9 and should factor with the move back to the grass.
