Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (GO RUDY GO) (5-1) - He showed good early speed before having traffic issues when finishing 5th of 10, missing by three lengths when debuting in a grass sprint Aug. 9 at Saratoga. He's switching to the dirt, moves off the rail, and he breezed a bullet half-mile Sept. 8 at the Spa before shipping south.
2nd pick: #7 (First Deputy) (3-1) - Well backed and competitive in his first pair sprinting on the Saratoga turf, he finished in front of 'Go Rudy Go' when debuting Aug. 9 and had a very wide trip checking in 3rd Aug. 30. This $200K son of 'Awesome Again' is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Dangerous Edge) (15-1) - Longshot was bet down to 4-1 debuting at this level and distance Aug. 8 on the Saratoga dirt, but tired badly while very wide. The colt sold for $150K as a 2yo in training this past March, and I think he'll run much better at a big price.
4th pick: #1 (Captain Bombastic) (6-1) - One of four making their debuts, he worked a fast half-mile from the gate on the Saratoga training track Sept. 13. Trainer Jeremiah Englehart has won with 24 of 110 (22%) first-time starters in 2018-19, and he has Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard.
