Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (NO MORE MIRACLES) (5-1) - He's clearly been much improved since moving to the grass two starts back following his return from a 5.5-month layoff May 27. One run type is stretching out after a pair of solid efforts at this level going shorter, and I give him a slight edge in a contest where you should definitely box your bets.
2nd pick: #9 (Southern Brigade) (7-2) - He's been freshened up since a poor effort in an 'off the turf' contest facing tougher Nov. 10 at Aqueduct. 3yo by 'Big Brown' had shown ability in his previous three on the grass and is dropping into a claimer for the first time, a 30% winning move by trainer Rudy Rodriguez.
3rd pick: #6 (Seven Plus Seven) (6-1) - Blinkers are added for this, and he's racing on the grass following a 3rd place finish here going seven furlongs on the main track at this level June 2. Bred for the surface switch, I like that Joel Roasrio stays aboard for the third straight time.
4th pick: #2 (Awesome Adversary) (4-1) - A strong finisher, he's been competitive in five straight and is 3-0-2-1 at this level and distance on the grass. He fits on figures and a fast and/or contested pace would help his late running style out.
5th pick: #7 (Prince Halo) (10-1) - A lightly raced gelding by Derby winner 'Orb,' he rallied to miss by a 1/2-length going seven furlongs here at this level June 9. It was his first back from a two-month freshening, first on the grass, and he's capable of factoring at a square price.
