Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (WORTH A SHOT) (2-1) - A home bred by 'English Channel,' this grey gelding missed by a 'neck' here at this level going seven furlongs June 29. It was only his second start and first since debuting in an 'off the turf' sprint at Aqueduct Nov. 22. I give him a slight edge here, but make sure you box your wagers in this contest.
2nd pick: #1 (This Joke's On You) (3-1) - One of two entered by trainer Charlie Baker, and the pair race uncoupled. He's been competitive in both dirt sprints and is racing on the grass for the first time. A gelding by 'Distorted Humor,' he has some speed, draws the rail, and should be involved from gate-to-wire.
3rd pick: #3 (Qian B C) (7-2) - The second of the Charlie Baker trained pair, he's finished 3rd in five straight at this level when sprinting on the turf. Gelding has had solid excuses in his last three attempts and must be left in the mix today.
4th pick: #5 (Hudson Overpass) (6-1) - Bred/owned/trained by Bruce Grossman, this speed/stalker moves up in class after a pair of 2nd place finishes in grass sprints facing $40,000 state bred claimers. He's capable of factoring, but will need to step it up for anything more than a minor award.
