J.T. Poston vs. Harry Hall

J.T. Poston has had one of the strangest seasons on tour: a rough opening four months, then a stretch that included a playoff win at the Memorial and a tie for fourth at the U.S. Open, two results that came at exactly the kind of narrow, punishing tracks TPC Southwind sets up to be. He's cooled off since, with a quiet finish at the John Deere and missed cuts at the Open Championship and Wyndham, but his history at Southwind still reads well, with multiple top-20s across his last several trips here, including a 24th-place finish the most recent time out. Harry Hall's season has been thinner. His tee-to-green numbers have been a season-long negative, and the only thing keeping his year afloat is a putter that finally got hot at Wyndham last week, a tie for fifth that snapped a run of three straight missed cuts and stands as his best finish of the year. That's the exact profile Southwind is built to expose: a stretch of good putting propping up an approach game that isn't there.
