S. Miss Golden Eagles vs Tulane Green Wave Point Spread Picks

Tulane wants to avenge a 27-24 loss as a 12-point favorite in last year's meeting and the Green Wave is on a 13-3 ATS run although they did lose 37-20 to Mississippi last week. The Green Wave opened the season by defeating South Alabama 37-20 and they have 14 starters back from the team that beat USC in the Cotton Bowl. Kai Horton did not have his best game against the Rebels as he went 15-for-37 for 231 yards with a touchdown and an interception and Makhi Hughes ran for 92 yards on 23 carries for Tulane, which still has won 13 of its past 16 games. The Green Wave have covered the spread eight consecutive road games and they are 8-0 ATS overall as favorites with revenge. Southern Miss got smashed by Florida State 66-13 and couldn't cover as a 31-point underdog. QB Billy Wiles completed only 11 of 34 passes with no TDs and one pick for the Eagles who were outgained 554-258 and yielded 306 rushing yards to the Seminoles. Take Tulane as a Max Play. 

Tulane has accomplished something no AAC team has ever accomplished. They won a game as a 13 or 14-point dog while holding their opponent to 14 points or fewer. Tulane has 9 defensive players back, and while they beat 2 lackluster opponents allowing just 10 total points, they proved it is no fluke by going on the road as a 13-point dog at Kansas St. and holding them to 10 points. Southern Miss has offensive numbers that are skewed by a 64-10 win vs Northwestern State. I think Southern Miss is going to struggle for offense and I don't see a Tulane offense here that can put up a big number which it will take to exceed the total. Make the play on the UNDER.

ARMED FORCES BOWL - Southern Mississippi did not get invited to a bowl game last year even with a 6-5 record so the Golden Eagles will be motivated for this one. Quarterback Jack Abraham has 3,329 passing yards with 18 touchdowns this season and a completion rate of 67.5 percent. Quez Watkins has 1,024 receving yards and Tim Jones has 66 receptions for 840 yards giving the Golden Eagles plenty of firepower on offense. Tulane lost five of its last six games while giving up an average of 35.6 points in that span. The Green Wave's biggest win of the season was a last-second victory over Houston and the other wins were against mediocre competition. Tulane is #55 in yards allowed compared to #36 for Southern Miss, which is #18 in the country in rush defense and that will be important against Tulane's option offense that averages 251.4 yards on the ground and the Golden Eagles will have several weeks to prepare. Southern Miss is 5-2 ATS following a loss and Tulane is 2-7-1 ATS its last 10 games playing on natural grass. Grab the points with Southern Miss.
