Houston at Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern covered as a big underdog against Clemson two weeks ago, and I had the Eagles that day, with their defense holding a Power Four offense to just 22 points and keeping the final margin inside the number. Houston's own offense has cooled off from its two blowout weeks, scoring a season-low 26 in a loss to Texas Tech its last time out, and this Houston defense has been the story of its season anyway, allowing better than 18 points a game and shutting teams down even when the offense doesn't need to be spectacular. Georgia Southern's defense showed real teeth against a real offense two weeks ago, and if that shows up again instead of the version that let an FCS opponent hang 31, a Houston team playing at a lower gear offensively and a stout Houston defense point toward a lower-scoring result than the total suggests.
