Holy Cross at Miami Ohio

Miami (Ohio) found two touchdowns against Pitt last week, but the story was the RedHawks' defense, which surrendered 646 total yards and 59 points to a Panthers offense that scored on four of its first five drives. Holy Cross has been living the same nightmare — a 35-point loss to Lehigh in the opener, followed by another 35 allowed against Colgate in a defeat that dropped the Crusaders to 0-2. Two data points, same conclusion: nobody on this field can get off it. The RedHawks' offense wasn't invisible either. First-time starter David McComb still threw for 240 yards and a score in his debut, and Chuck Martin's group gets a massive class jump down in competition this afternoon against an FCS defense that's been shredded in consecutive weeks. Holy Cross won't just fold, either. David Lynch dropped 313 yards through the air on Lehigh and followed with 264 more on Colgate, spreading the ball to Ty Curran and Drae Tyme with regularity. My model likes this spot: two offenses that move the ball meeting two defenses that haven't stopped anybody yet is exactly the matchup that blows through a total. This is the strongest number on the board this afternoon, and we're on the OVER this afternoon.
