Neither of these teams are heading for a good season. The Temple offense did not score last week and generated fewer than 200 yards. To be fair, Oklahoma is much better defensively than Navy, but the Temple offense has a lot of question marks. Navy notched eight wins or more in 13 of 14 seasons, but their recruiting rankings have spiralied and the end result is four straight losing seasons. Navy won eight or more games in 14 of 17 seasons, but things have really taken a left turn for this team. The Navy is just 9-20 in their last 29 games. This will be just their 2nd game in their last 30 as a home favorite. That game was this season against the FCS team Delaware. They managed 7 total points as a -13 point favorite. The problem is simple. They run the triple-option and are generating just 4.1 yards per carry, which is way to ordinary to sustain the drives they need to win. Temple has a good enough run defense to limit an average Navy running attack. Navy has a terrible pass defense, and I think Temple can get a couple of big plays here, and stops, to come in under a tough number for a Navy team that just isn't what we have seen in the past. Make the play on Temple.

It sure has been a tough few seasons for Navy and Temple. Each of these teams had a good run, but lately, they have both struggled. They have just five wins between them. This might appear to be an overlay on behalf of the Navy at 2-8 on the season, the Middie's have been a lot more competitive. Temple appears to have thrown in the towel and the offense has been absent. Temple has dropped six straight games where they have collectively scored just 45 points or 6.5 points per game (PPG) Defensively it has been just as bad as the Owls have allowed 261 points at 43.5 PPG. That is an average loss of 37 PPG. Navy has been a lot more competitive with three losses by seven points or fewer, and two wins in their last seven. The records may show this game closer, but it is not. Make the play on Navy.
