The Egg Bowl has had some surprising results over the years, as in-state rivals Ole Miss and Miss. State take the field on Friday afternoon. Mississippi St. has had a brutal season at 2-9. They could change that with a huge upset win here. I don't think a win is in the cards, but they will likely be down in this game, and passing is going to dominate their offense. This is one area the Bulldogs have had success this season as they are averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. It is the one area that will keep them under the line here. Ole Miss can't be run on as the Rebels allow 2.4 yards a carry, however the pass defense allows 6.7 yards an attempt. I think the Bulldogs will stay within 20 here. Make the play on Miss St.

Mississippi is looking to avenge a 24-22 loss in last year's meeting, Mike Leach's last time coaching in the rivalry before he died shortly thereafter. The Rebels are 9-2 this season and the only losses were to Alabama and Georgia and they come off a 35-3 rout of UL Monroe on Saturday. Jaxson Dart completed 24 of 31 passes for 310 yards and three TDs with no interceptions and Dayton Wade caught had seven receptions for 108 yards and a score. Mississippi averages 36.5 points for #17 in the country and it is 5-1-1 ATS after allowing fewer than 20 points its previous game. Mississippi State is 0-6 ATS its past six games as a home underdog and the Bulldogs have lost six of nine although they did get a 41-20 win over Southern Miss last week in a non-conference game. There had been some speculation that Dart might not play due to an injury, but he says otherwise. The Rebels are going for only their second 10-win season in program history. Take Mississippi.
