Life in a BCS Conference led to a different result for the Horned Frogs, as they struggled to a 7-5 record on the season. To put that in perspective, TCU lost just five games in their last 55 games coming into this year, covering over four seasons. This is a team that lost their starting QB to injury early in the season, and although the defense remains strong, the offense averaged less than 16 points per game in their final three contests. Michigan State needed a win over Minnesota to become Bowl eligible in their finale and got it done with a 26-10 win. This team has been one of the top defensive teams in the country. Despite a strong schedule that included Boise State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Northwestern, and not a single team scored more than 28 points against the Spartan defense, and just three topped the 20-point mark. A TCU offense that struggled down the stretch is going to have a difficult task finding the end zone here. Michigan State struggles offensively, and managed to get to 20 points in just three of their first nine contests. They did show signs down the stretch that they were finding some answers as they reached the 20-point mark in all three of their final three games. That will be the difference here as the Spartans and Horned Frogs are pretty even defensively, but the Spartans have shown more answers on offense down the stretch. Go with Michigan State.
