The biggest surprise of the Big-10 season has to be the Minnesota Golden Gophers, as they have started the season 7-0. Maryland is 3-4 on the season but don't be fooled as they have beaten Howard, Rutgers, and Syracuse. The Terrapins stats are highly misleading as in those three cupcakes wins they averaged 60 points per game but the reality is in the four losses they averaged fewer than 15 ppg. They have also allowed 38.3 ppg in the losses. Minnesota has allowed 10.3 ppg in their last three as Maryland has skewed this total as their team average takes in big offensive games vs. horrific teams. Minnesota isn't an offensive juggernaut and has maxed out at 42 points on the season. I just don't see how this one gets even close to nearly 60 points. Back the UNDER.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers may be 3-0 to start the season, but there are a lot of concerns. QB Zack Annexstad was injured and left the last game with an ankle injury, but it looks like he will play in this one. The news that hurts more is that the Gophers have lost the services of their best offensive player RB Rodney Smith for the season. While the offense has taken some hits, the defense is one of the top units in the country, allowing just nine points per game. Maryland's offense ran into a brick wall last week vs. Temple, who held the Terrapins to fewer than 200 total yards and just 14 points. Minnesota has a below-average unit that is made worse by injuries, so the stout defense is going to have to play big here. Take the UNDER.
