Kansas State Wildcats vs Oklahoma State Cowboys Point Spread Picks

Oklahoma State QB Alan Bowman (10 TDs, 4 INTs) looks to bounce back after a rough outing. He's 25 years old, has played for Texas Tech and Michigan since 2018, and has 58 TD passes in his college career. The Cowboys have won 13 of their last 18 games. That included a 27-24 victory over Oklahoma as a +6 underdog, a 48-34 win at West Virginia as a +3 dog, a 39-32 triumph over Kansas as a dog, and a 29-21 win over this Kansas State squad when they met last season as a +11.5 dog. While Ok-State lost a close one to Utah in its Big 12 opener last week, Kansas State got crushed by BYU, 38-9, as sophomore QB Avery Johnson had two interceptions and no touchdowns. Kansas State has played one other road game. They were favored at Missouri but lost 30-27. And it was a poor performance defensively surrendering 430 yards, including 356 passing, with a fourth-quarter collapse getting outscored 13-3. College football road teams that average 4.8+ yards per rush and gained 275+ rushing yards in the last game are 18-46 ATS versus a team with a run defense that allows 3.5 to 4.3 yards per carry. Oklahoma State is a big home dog but Coach Mike Gundy is 24-14 ATS off a road loss. The Cowboys have senior QB Alan Bowman and a strong running back in Ollie Gordon II (6.2 yards per carry). They'll be in a fighting mood after losing the Big 12 opener at Iowa State, 34-27, despite over 400 yards on offense. Bowman threw for 278 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Gordon II ran for 121 yards on 18 carries. Oklahoma State is 19-7 ATS at home after a game where they forced no turnovers, plus 20-8 ATS at home against teams with a winning percentage between 60 to 75%. This game will go a long way to determine which team has a chance to win the Big 12. This is going to be a tough spot for Oklahoma St. They are coming off a 6.5-point dog win in a very physical battle with Texas. The Texas game was on the heels of a 3-point loss vs TCU. There could be very little left in the tank. Oklahoma St. has not been as good as their record as they have out-gained a schedule of teams by just 16 total yards per game, which isn't the typical look of a 6-1 team. The Wildcats like to run the ball and have already held four opponents to 17 or fewer points. They like to run 40+ times a game and I'm sure that will be what they try to do here. Kansas St. is allowing 14.3 PPG in four home games, and this one looks more like a game played in the 20s than 30s. Make the play UNDER the total.

Under the radar Kansas State keeps winning and covering. They opened last season 4-1, including a 38-35 upset of No. 3 Oklahoma, and they have won their first three this season. Kansas State is on a 19-9 spread run, is 12-4 ATS in Big 12 play, and 9-3 ATS on the road. Senior QB Skyler Thompson returned for his sixth season while sophomore RB Deuce Vaughn (371 yards) has been outstanding, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. The Wildcats are 25-12-1 ATS on the road against teams with a winning home record, plus 37-15-1 ATS after a spread loss. Oklahoma State stayed unbeaten, too, returning home from a dogfight at Boise State, a 21-20 win, so this is a difficult situational spot. They also nipped Tulsa (28-23) and Missouri State (23-16) as favorites of -11 and -32. What's happening is they've been dealing with a ton of injuries. Safety Tre Sterling and DE Trace Ford are already out for the year, TE Logan Carter has yet to suit up, RB Dezmon Jackson missed the trip to Boise, WR Langston Anderson is out with a broken foot, and senior slot WR Braydon Johnson hasn't played since the opener.
