Kansas Jayhawks vs Oklahoma Sooners Point Spread Picks

Kansas suffered its first loss of the season 38-31 to TCU, but the Jayhawks piled up 540 total yards of offense and Jason Bean completed 16 of 24 for 262 yards and four TDs for a 131.9 QB rating and Devin Neal ran for 88 yards on 15 carries for Kansas. What is even more impressive for the Jayhawks is that starting quarterback Jalon Daniels left with a shoulder injury late in the first half and still Kansas was in it until the end. Daniels is listed as doubtful for this game, but Bean started 10 games last season. New Oklahoma coach Brent Venables might have a short stay in Norman if the Sooners keep playing as they are, including a humiliating 49-0 loss to Texas for their third loss in a row while allowing an average of 48.3 points. Kansas is on an 8-0-1 ATS run dating to last season and don't expect the Jayhawks to let last week's loss affect them because coach Lance Leipold has his team playing unlike the Kansas teams of recent years. The Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS the past five meetings and they'll have plenty of motivation being made big underdogs in this game. This is a Big 12 mismatch. Oklahoma's switch to QB Caleb Williams (6 TDs, 0 INTs) has jumpstarted their Fun-'N-Gun attack, scoring 55 and 52 points the last two games. They're #14 in the nation in total yards and will be in the Top 10 when the season ends, especially after facing this dreadful Kansas team. The Sooners are on an 8-3 spread run in conference play and face a Kansas squad (0-6 ATS) that has lost five in a row with a defense. They've surrendered 49, 45, 52, 59, and 41 points. Also, the Kansas passing offense is one of the worst in the country averaging 172 yards per game. Kansas is 48-76 ATS versus teams that average 31+ points and 26-43 ATS against teams that outscore their opponents by 17+ points per contest. The Sooners won 62-9 last year, and this will be worse. Kansas finally has a good opportunity to get the money as it is getting a ton of points against Oklahoma, which has failed to cover against the Jayhawks the last three seasons. Each year, Kansas was able to come in under the number, including a 45-20 loss as a 32-point underdog last season. The Sooners have Oklahoma State on deck and easily could look past this game, and they already have losses against Kansas State and Iowa State so they're far from invincible. Oklahoma is 1-6-1 ATS its last eight November games and 1-6 ATS its last seven after scoring at least 40 points. Also, the Sooners have not covered their last four games after winning by at least 20 points. All this points to an unlikely scenario for the Sooners to cover a huge spread, and the Jayhawks are 7-3-1 ATS their last 11 games when they are getting at least 24 points. Oklahoma is undefeated and 3-1 ATS while Kansas is 2-3 and just 1-4 ATS and comes off a 51-14 annihilation at TCU. Les Miles still has a lot of work to do to rebuild this program as the Jayhawks have won only six games over the last four years. Carter Stanley went only 12-of-29 for 84 yards against the Horned Frogs and the Jayhawks managed only 159 total offense yards while giving up 625, including 319 on the ground. That doesn't bode well against the Sooners, who are averaging 55.5 points after destroying Texas Tech 55-16 and racking up 646 total yards. Jalen Hurts threw for 415 yards and three touchdowns while completing 17-of-24 and he also ran for 70 yards. The Sooners are 5-1-1 ATS their last seven games going back to last season while Kansas is 11-23 ATS its last 34 versus teams with winning records and 5-12 ATS its last 17 October games.
