The UConn Huskies have not had a winning season since 2010. The Huskies are off to a 3-2 start, and look like an improved team. Somehow after beating three soft opponents including a bad FCS team in Marrimack, the Huskies have been elevated to #67 in the ESPN power ratings. I'm really not sure how that can happen when the best team you have beaten is ranked #104. Temple is another cupcake on the schedule, but the ratings for the Huskies can be called into question here. To put things in perspective here, the Huskies have not been a 17 point or greater favorite vs an FBS opponent since 2012 vs. UMass, a team that has never won more than four games since they joined the FBS. Sorry, can't buy this one. Make the play on Temple.

Pro Picks
Connecticut at Temple
Connecticut won't be going to a Bowl game but they haven't packed in the season, coming in off a 31-24 loss to East Carolina as a two-touchdown underdog. UConn has a strong ground attack behind Kevin Mensah (993 yards) and Art Thompkins (450 yards), both averaging over 4.5 yards per carry. They also covered against Illinois of the Big 10 in a 31-23 loss as a 21-point dog. They are a huge dog again to a Temple team that is no offensive dynamo, averaging 22.4 points the last ten contests. And college football road underdogs are 236-161 ATS after gaining 525+ total yards in their previous game. Play UConn.

Pro Picks
Temple at Connecticut
Connecticut has been offensively-challenged for several years and it's the same story this season as the Huskies are averaging only 18.3 points per game, and are coming off a 41-3 loss at East Carolina. UConn managed just 89 rushing yards against the Pirates on 2.9 yards per carry and quarterback Bryant Shirreffs was 16-of-30 for 180 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Huskies are ranked #106 in total yards of offense and #126 in scoring. Temple is allowing just 22.7 points per game after its 34-13 win over Cincinnati in a game that went UNDER by six points. The Owls rushed for 275 yards on 60 carries with Jahad Thomas gaining 151 yards on 17 carries. Phillip Walker was 12-of-19 for 199 yards and two TDs. Temple's defense is #11 in the country in total yards allowed and the last seven meetings have stayed UNDER, including last year's 27-3 win by Temple. UConn has gone UNDER 11 of its last 15 games overall. Play the UNDER.
