If you thought the UConn Huskies football program hit rock bottom, guess again. Head Coach Randy Edsall said he was retiring at the end of this season, and less than 24 hours later, news broke he was retiring effective immediately. Apparently, athletic director Dave Benedict decided that wasn't going to happen. There was also talk that the announcement was not accepted well by many of the players as there was apparent turmoil in the locker room. Edsall finishes his second stint in Storrs with a 6-32 record and is off a 10-point home loss to Holy Cross. This is a team with just eight upper-classmen, and 93 of 102 players on the roster have three or more years of eligibility left. This is because 24 players entered the transfer portal last year. This program is really on fire right now, as in dumpster fire. They lost their best player last week in WR Cameron Ross, and both starting WR's are now out. Losing by 35 points has been easy for UConn to do in this second version of Randy Edsall, and Purdue is a Power-5 school that doesn't get to blow a lot of teams out. They will here.
