Colorado State Rams vs Wyoming Cowboys Point Spread Picks

Neither offense in this one did much of anything last season. Wyoming averaged just 16 points per game in a 4-8 finish under Jay Sawvel, and Colorado State wasn't much better, at under 19 per game in a 2-10 season that also saw the defense give up nearly 31 points per game. Two units that struggled to score meeting up rarely turns into a shootout just because it's Week 1, and if anything, a true season opener tends to amplify the sloppiness that was already showing up on tape last year rather than erase it. Wyoming's defense held up its end reasonably well, allowing just over 20 points a game, giving Colorado State's already limited offense even less room to operate. The betting market backs this up clearly, with the heavier money sitting on the UNDER here. When both sides bring bottom-tier scoring numbers from a year ago into a true opener, the path to a low-scoring, grind-it-out game is a lot more obvious than the path to points piling up from either direction. Colorado State enjoyed a big win over Boise State, but then lost to UNLV in the final minute the following week before losing 30-13 to undefeated Air Force. The Rams also had that double-overtime loss to Colorado earlier in the season. However, Colorado State is 5-0 ATS its past five games as a road underdog and Wyoming is 0-4-1 ATS as a favorite. The Cowboys have lost two in a row, including a 32-7 blowout by Boise State last week when they rushed for only 27 yards on 24 carries and were outgained by an incredible margin of 443-112. Wyoming QB Andrew Peasley was only 10 of 20 for 85 yards and a TD with an interception. Colorado State is in revenge after losing 14-13 in the 2022 meeting and it went UNDER by 15.5 points. The Rams have stayed UNDER by 12.8 points their past two games and they are 6-1 UNDER their past seven Friday games. Wyoming is 5-0 UNDER versus teams with losing records.
