Clemson Tigers vs Iowa State Cyclones Point Spread Picks

CHEEZ-IT BOWL - Some were concerned about Clemson earlier in the season as it wasn't showing its usual dominance, especially on offense, but the Tigers are back to their old selves winning their last five games while averaging 36.4 points, including a 30-0 pounding of South Carolina in the regular-season finale. The Gamecocks managed only 43 rushing yards on 20 carries while the Tigers racked up 265 on 6.2 yards per carry, and the running game will be what Clemson depends on in this game. Iowa State had high hopes coming into the season, but the Cyclones were exposed in an early loss to Iowa, and they went on to finish just 7-5 straight up and 5-7 ATS. Iowa State lost three of its last five games, although it did defeat TCU, 48-14, to finish the regular season. Iowa State does have the edge at quarterback with Brock Purdy averaging 249 passing yards per game and a 73.1% completion rate, but the Clemson defense is #10 in the country in yards allowed and #2 in scoring defense. The Tigers are peaking at the right time and are in better form. Iowa State's All-American running back, Breece Hall, who ran for 1,472 yards, is not playing while preparing for the NFL Draft.
