Central Michigan Chippewas vs Kansas Jayhawks Point Spread Picks

The Kansas Jayhawks have a long way to go to turn in a competitive season in the Big-12. They are just 12-61 in their last 73 games, and it doesn't look like they are going to win many games this season. They opened with a win vs. SE Missouri State. 38-16, but Central Michigan is a big step up from that game. This will be their third game vs. the MAC Conference over the last four years, and they split the first two. One notable from those two games is that Kansas did not top the 24-point mark in either of them. Central Michigan finished the season at 5-2-1 to the UNDER in their last eight games, and opened the 2017 season with another UNDER vs. URI, scoring just 30 points. That illustrates the lack of offense by Central Michigan as URI opened each of the last three seasons vs. an FBS opponent and gave up an average of 50 points per game. Those three teams were Marshall, Kansas, and Syracuse, so no powerhouses. I think points will be at a premium here, so play on the UNDER.

It has been a very trying stretch for the Kansas Jayhawks as they have struggled to be competitive, and struggled even greater trying to put one in the win column. The Jayhawks have struggled to find the right coach, and Charlie Weiss was considered a good hire, but he simply hasn't gotten it done. And after getting trounced by Duke 41-3, his job seems to be week to week. It's hard to get behind this Kansas team simply because Charlie Weiss is 2-21 in his last 23 games vs. FBS opponents. Central Michigan already has a feather in their cap with a win over Purdue. The Chippewas have been strong on the road as they have played above the line at 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, and they have been a good bounce-back team, logging a 4-0 ATS mark when following a loss of 20 points or more in their previous game. Kansas has taken the donut in their last nine out-of-conference games where they have stumbled to an 0-8-1 ATS mark. They have also been shutout of the spread win in their last six September tilts at 0-5-1 ATS. I can't trust Kansas here as they find a lot of ways to lose. Go with Central Michigan.
