California lost several key starters from the 2021 squad, but the Golden Bears are 3-1 straight up and ATS losing only to Notre Dame and last week they defeated Arizona 49-31 and covering as a 3.5-point favorite. Jack Plummer transferred from Purdue and has produced for the Bears and he finished 20 of 30 for 274 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a 139.3 QB rating against the Wildcats. However, it was freshman Jaydn Ott who exploded for 274 yards rushing while scoring on runs of 73,18 and 72 yards. Coach Justin Wilcox did some reshuffling of his offensive line and it paid off handsomely for the Bears. Washington State lost to Oregon 44-41 for its first defeat of the season while managing only 41 rushing yards and the defense yielded 625 total yards. Cameron Ward threw for 375 yards and two TDs, but was intercepted twice and the Cougar defense couldn't contain Oregon QB Bo Nix or the Ducks' running attack. The Cougars had gone UNDER their previous three games and five of the past six meetings with Cal have stayed UNDER. The Bears are 22-9 UNDER their past 31 conference games and 12-5 UNDER versus teams with winning records. Washington State has gone UNDER five in a row after giving up at least 40 points its previous game and the Cougars are 2-8 ATS after scoring 40 or more points.
