Boston College Eagles vs Virginia Tech Hokies Point Spread Picks

Virginia Tech hasn't scored fewer than 35 points in any game this year, an offense that just hung 35 on a Maryland team that had allowed only 14 points combined in its first two games. Boston College hasn't been shut down either; its 15-point floor came in its season opener against a tough Cincinnati defense, and the Eagles have scored at least 22 in every game since. Combine Virginia Tech's floor with Boston College's own floor, and you're already past today's number before accounting for how leaky Boston College's defense has actually been, allowing at least 16 points in every game it's played and never once forcing a team to work for it. They have a loss to Northern Illinois, and beat FCS Holy Cross by just three points at home. They have won five straight games to the likes of Army, and UConn. Virginia Tech has won four of their last five with the only loss coming to Louisville. The Hokies have found some offense, and has scored 30+ points in three of their last five games. Virginia Tech needs two wins to become Bowl eligible and with games against BC, Virginia, and one at home vs NC State, and an improved offense they are quite capeable of getting it done. Boston College lost a tough one on Saturday when Al-Shadee Salaam scored on a 22-yard run for Rutgers with 2:43 left and the extra point gave the Scarlet Knights a 22-21 win over the Eagles. Phil Jurkovec had an uneven performance for the Eagles completing 23 of 41 for 283 yards and three touchdowns, but with two interceptions and his team could not run the ball finishing with 29 rushing yards and the game stayed UNDER by 3.5 points. Boston College now has stayed UNDER eight of its past nine games and the defense returns eight starters from a squad that allowed 22 points per game in 2021. Virginia Tech stayed UNDER by 11.5 points in its 20-17 loss to Old Dominion and the Hokies are just 3-9 ATS their last 12 games and their offense doesn't look much better than Boston College's as QB Grant Wells threw four picks and went 21-for-36 for 193 yards and the Hokies had 14 penalties against the Monarchs. The Eagles won last year's meeting 17-3 and it went UNDER by 31 points and four of the last five meetings have stayed UNDER.
