Boston College Eagles vs Temple Owls Point Spread Picks

Boston College is off to a strong start, although the competition hasn't been great, the Eagles have scored 96 points in their first two games against Colgate and Massachusetts. Dennis Grosel will start again at quarterback as Phil Jurkovec is out with a hand injury. Grosel is fully capable as he threw for 199 yards on 11 of 14 passes and a touchdown with no picks against Massachusetts, and last year he tied the school record of 520 passing yards by none other than Doug Flutie when filling in for Jurkovec against Virginia. Temple comes off a 1-6 season and lost its opener 61-14 at Rutgers before beating Akron, 45-24, last week. Justin Lynch completed 19 of 23 for 245 yards, and Randle Jones caught seven passes for 170 yards and two TDs. Boston College is a huge step up in competition, though, and the Eagles have covered four of their past five following an ATS loss. The Owls are 0-4 ATS their last four home games and 3-7 ATS their past 10 games overall. The Eagles are laying a lot fewer points than the past two weeks. Take Boston College.

Boston College absorbed their first loss of the season last week at the hands of Purdue, and it wasn't close in a 30-13 contest. Their vaunted running game led by A.J. Dillon was limited to 85 yards on 34 carries. Temple got off to a slow start with unexpected losses to Villanova and Buffalo, but have rallied back to win two straight vs. Tulsa, and a huge upset as a 16-point underdog at Maryland. If you slow down the BC running game you have a good chance to be playing for a win down the stretch. The Owls have allowed just 643 rushing yards on 175 attempts this season, which is just 3.67 yards per carry. They certainly have defended well, allowing fewer than 20 points in three of their four games, and have what it takes to slow down Dillon and the BC running attack which proved lethal last week.
