Boston College had an easy opener, routing Fordham. They have a new quarterback in sophomore Dylan Lonergan. Of concern is that the ground game averaged just 2.5 yards per rush against a Fordham squad that was 2-10 in 2024. The offensive line lost three starters from a year ago. Michigan State also has a revamped offensive line behind erratic junior QB Aidan Chiles, who had 13 TDs and 11 interceptions last year. The Spartans come off a 23-6 win over Western Michigan. The defense is strong up the middle, giving up 29 yards rushing on 24 carries in the opener. This will be a physical game in the trenches, just like last year when Boston College won, 23-19. They've won three of their last five straight-up as underdogs of +3, +3.5, and +8.5. Boston College is in a let-down spot after an exhausting game, losing 27-21 at No. 6 Missouri as a +14 underdog. The defense allowed 440 yards, including 176 yards rushing. Last September, they were a double-digit favorite over Holy Cross and squeezed out a 31-28 win, while also losing to Northern Illinois, 27-24, as an 8-point favorite.
