Boise State Broncos vs Virginia Cavaliers Point Spread Picks

Boise State has been a dominating, nationally ranked program for better than a decade. But lately, this team has come down a bit. The Broncos won 11 games or more in 10 of 13 seasons, but for the first time since they have gone back-to-back seasons with fewer than 11 wins. This is still a good program, but the points don't score as easily as they once did. Last year's offense was the lowest scoring in four years. Virginia is off a big win vs. UConn 38-18, but UConn struggled at home vs. Holy Cross, and the Huskies are near the bottom of the FBS, it won't be as easy to put up points here for the Caviliers. Virginia may be in for another long season, as they have not had a winning record in five straight seasons. Scoring has long been a problem for the Cavaliers as they have not fielded a team that has averaged even 26 points per game since 2005. The Cavaliers have had just onw season in the last 12 years where their season OVER/UNDER log was better than .500 to the OVER, and stand at 13-22 to the OVER the last seven years when playing on the road. Boise State has long been known to be a team that can hang a 50-spot on you in a heartbeat, but after losing a lot of key skill position players from last season, and taking to the road vs. a defensive-oriented power-five conference opponent in Virginia, things will not be so easy. Fresh in the minds of bettors is the 52 points Boise scored last week vs. helpless Idaho State, but the Broncos managed a total of just 40 vs. the likes of BYU and Washington. Virginia has faced three potent offenses, and the assumption is that Boise State will be the fourth, but this is not nearly as talented of an offensive group that we have seen fro Boise State the past.
