Auburn Tigers vs California Golden Bears Point Spread Picks

California needed to improve offensively with its eight starters on that side of the ball, and so far the result has been impressive as the Golden Bears pummeled North Texas 58-21 in their opener while outscoring the Mean Green 25-0 in the second half. The Bears piled up 669 total offense yards, including 357 on the ground while holding North Texas to only 225 yards and just 41 yards rushing. Ben Finley was 24 of 34 for 279 yards and a touchdown with an interception for California, which will get a tougher test this week against Auburn. The Tigers defeated Massachusetts 59-14 while outgaining the Minutemen 492-301, including 289 rushing yards. Payton Thorne did not need to have a great day and he was only 10 of 17 for 141 yards and one TD for the Tigers. As with the Golden Bears, Auburn will face a much better defense in this matchup and California returns nine defensive starters. California is 4-0 ATS its past four games after allowing fewer than 275 total yards its previous game and Auburn is 1-6 ATS its past seven September games. The Bears are 6-0 UNDER their past six following a win and 9-0 ATS as non-conference underdogs the past nine years.
