Army Black Knights vs UL Monroe Warhawks Point Spread Picks

Army brings back eight defensive starters from a team that allowed only 12.8 points per game the final five games of 2022. The Black Knights will look a lot different than they have the last two decades as they will try a more pass-oriented offense under new coordinator Drew Thatcher. Army will still run a lot with four running backs that averaged at least 4.8 yards per carry last year and the defense returns eight starters with an experienced secondary. UL Monroe is slowly making progress under third-year coach Terry Bowden although he'll have another challenge with the offense, which suffered heavy losses, including QB Chandler Rogers, who passed for 200.3 yards per game and rushed for 353 yards. The other two leading rushers also transferred and senior Jiya Wright is the starting QB, although he has appeared in only six games with 87 offensive snaps the past two seasons. Army is 5-0 UNDER its past five games as a road favorite of 3.5-10 points. Take the UNDER as a Max Play. 

Army has played a tough schedule losing by three to UTSA, and losing to Coastal Carolina, as well as ACC team Wake Forest. The Army otherwise has run the ball for lots of yards. This year the Army is not as good defensively as they are allowing over 30 PPG. LA Monroe had games vs Alabama and Texas where they had no chance but in competitive games, they have put up 28 PPG. UL Monroe has allowed 40 or more points in 4 of its 7 games, and with an Army defense that is not up to what they have been, I think UL Monroe is going to get plenty to push this one over the top.
