Arizona is still rebuilding under second-year coach Jedd Fisch. They were 124th in the nation in scoring last season and 101st in total yards. The Wildcats have new QBs competing with sophomore Jayden de Laura being the expected starter after coming over from Washington State where he had 23 TDs and 9 INTs. The offensive line lost two longtime starters, and depth on the line is already a concern. Defenses are usually ahead of the offenses in the first month of the season, and Arizona is 9-4 UNDER the total in September. The strength of the team is the defensive secondary with everyone back. They face a San Diego State team off of a 12-2 campaign and is returning seven starters on a defense that allowed 19.8 points per game and was 15th in total yards allowed. San Diego State is 78-52 UNDER the total as a favorite, including 51-31 UNDER as home chalk, and the offense lost its best players. Virginia Tech transfer QB Braxton Burmeister gets a shot to start while the offensive line has just two returning starters, and they lost top rusher Greg Bell (1,091 yards). This should be an interesting matchup with San Diego State heading to the desert to take on Arizona. Arizona played well in their opener, but the result was the same. The Wildcats suffered their 13th straight loss. I don't think they will go winless again this season, but the wins certainly won't be plentiful, and this won't be one of them. San Diego State opened against New Mexico State full of lethargy. It seems they took the field as the winner of the game without having to do anything. New Mexico State took a shocking 10-0 lead in this game, and then the Aztecs woke up and pounded the ball on the ground where they had a 248-48 edge.
