Akron comes off its best performance of the season as the Zips got their first conference win 31-27 over Kent State last Wednesday. Jeff Undercuffer, Jr. scored the go-ahead touchdown with 26 seconds left as Akron outscored the Golden Flashes 21-0 in the fourth quarter. Undercuffer is filling in for injured starter DJ Irons and he threw for 298 yards and two TDs with no interceptions and the Zips finally have some momentum they can use coming into this game. Miami bounced back from a 21-17 loss to Toledo to defeat Ohio 30-16 and did it mostly on the ground led by Rashad Amos, who totaled 163 yards rushing on 7.8 per carry and was a one-man show for the Redhawks. Akron trailed 13-7 at the half, but Gibson played the second half and led the Zips to a 35-20 comeback victory. After getting minus-14 yards in their first four drives, Akron finished with 387 yards as Gibson was 14-of-15 passing. Akron has covered six of eight against teams with losing home marks.
