This is a tough spot for the Utah State defense. They prefer to pack the paint defensively, but that leaves you vulnerable on the perimeter and Utah State struggles both at forcing turnovers and stopping the three-point shot. They were #205 in the nation at defending beyond the arc, allowing 34.9% shooting and are 55-36 OVER the total in all tournament games. The Aggies face a dynamite Washington squad. The Huskies have a terrific one-two backcourt punch in Jaylen Nowell (16.2 ppg) and David Crisp (12.5 ppg), both hitting over 37% from long range. They also rank #15 in the nation in turnovers forced per game (16.2 per outing), second nationally in blocks per game (5.7) and ninth in steals per game (9.0), joining only Duke as the two teams to be ranked nationally in the top 10 in both categories.
