Samford Bulldogs vs Texas Arlington Mavericks Point Spread Picks

Samford put their opener in the win column, but it was a certain layup vs. Martin Methodist. The win may have been a forgone conclusion, but they didn't blow them out, winning by just 17. Samford won just 10 games from a year ago vs. Div-1 competition. They do have four of five starters back, but not sure if that is a good thing, as the talent pool is pretty thin. Texas Arlington opened way over their head against a fast, running, and talented Boise State team, where they had no chance as a +17.5 point underdog. The good news was that they got scoring from five different positions as five players reached double-digits, and I just don't think Samford has enough answers to counter that. The Mavericks have proven tough after a loss at 11-5 ATS in their last 16, and have a winnable game here at home. Play on Texas Arlington.

Texas Arlington steps up in class after dominating the Southland Conference a year ago with a 15-1 record. While they have lost key players from that team, they have been a solid program and the drop-off should not be that great. This is a big-time rebounding team that collected over 40 boards per game a year ago. Samford has a new coach that will try and improve upon a 19-loss season a year ago, but at 1-5 it certainly doesn't look very likely as the talent level is simply not there. Arlington is a little known program with a pedigree, and they certainly have the talent edge here. The Bulldogs have no home-court advantage where they are 7-23-1 ATS in their last 31, and Arlington has covered four of their last five after a loss. Play on Texas Arlington.
