This is a neutral site game in Las Vegas. Both these clubs enter with identical 3-1 marks through four games, and both must fill voids left by graduations as they each return just a pair of starters. Western Kentucky is playing well under first-year coach Rick Stansbury. Senior guard Que Johnson, a transfer from Washington State of the Pac 12, leads in scoring (15 points per game), while junior forward Justin Johnson (13.8 ppg, nine rebounds per game) and senior guard Pancake Thomas (12.5) also average in double figures. The Hilltoppers are 37-16 ATS at neutral sites, as well as 9-4-2 UNDER the total on neutral courts. Washington likes to run, but the Huskies don't always focus on defense, slipping up in the opener, losing 98-90 to Yale as -14.5 chalk. And the fact that they just slipped past Long Beach State as a double-digit favorite is just as puzzling as the loss to Yale. Washington's offense clicks best at home at 8-1 UNDER the total at neutral sites. Western Kentucky can shoot the ball, and the lack of defense on the part of the Huskies could cost them again, as it did in allowing 98 points vs. Yale. The dog has more than enough defense and balanced scoring to keep this close, so the wagering value is on the Hilltoppers to win a defensive game. Play Western Kentucky on the moneyline and also take the UNDER.
