Pittsburgh is coming off two great defensive performances while beating Florida State and N.C. State. The Panthers allowed only a .342 field goal percentage in the two games and they covered the spread in both, including as 10-point underdogs against the Seminoles, who were held to a paltry 29 percent shooting. John Hugley scored a team-leading 21 points against the Wolfpack, who were held to 40 percent shooting. This kind of defense can keep a game closer than expected and North Carolina still is only 4-4-1 ATS its last nine games despite making a late-season run.
