Howard is the favorite to win the MEAC and it is 1-1 so far with a win over Hampton and an 88-85 loss at Georgia Tech on Thursday while covering as a 10-point underdog. The Bison are 6-1 ATS dating to last season when they made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 30 years and they have two starters and several key reserves back from that team. Howard led the Yellow Jackets 47-41 at halftime and shot 50 percent for the game with Shy Odom scoring a team-leading 22 points. James Madison opened with a stunning win over Michigan State and then went double overtime to beat Kent State 113-108. The Dukes scored five points in 3.8 seconds to force OT.
