Cleveland State had its best season in years finishing 20-11, but that was expected to change quickly as coach Dennis Gates took a job at Missouri and the Vikings lost three starters. The pessimism already has been realized as the Vikings lost their opener 69-66 to Notre Dame College (not the University) on Monday with Tristan Enaruna scoring a team-leading 20 points. Cincinnati destroyed Chaminade 98-55 and shot 50 percent and that is important because last season the Bearcats averaged only 69.4 points per game and a .404 field goal percentage overall and just .315 from 3-point range. The Bearcats added some recruits and transfers to improve the offense after finishing 18-15 and David DeJulius led four double-figure scorers with 24 points on Monday. Take Cincinnati.
